Draw Near to God Series

Free Journal Prompts to Help You Draw Near to God

I’m so excited to share a free journal prompts resource designed to help you engage with God in a way that feels natural, personal, and life-giving!

These prompts aren’t just something I put together, they’re a tool I personally use to stay connected with God in a real and meaningful way. They’ve been shaped by the lessons and insights from my Drawing Near to God series, which has helped me cultivate a deeper relationship with Him through daily habits and intentional focus.

For me, journaling is a way to process, reflect, and open my heart to God, especially in moments when I feel distant, distracted, or overwhelmed. Some days, I write out full responses, and other days, I just sit with a question and talk to God about it. There are times I come back to a single prompt for a whole week because it’s what I need in that season.

This guide is a reflection of my journey, learning to put God first, practice His presence, surrender control, and grow in gratitude, scripture reflection, and personal alignment. These are the very things that have helped me draw near to God, and I hope they help you too.

I encourage you to use them in whatever way works for you. Start small, be honest, and let your time with God be real and personal. You don’t have to do it perfectly—just start!

These prompts are not a template to follow rigidly but a tool to guide you in your journey. You don’t need to answer everything—just pick one or a few that resonate with you each day. Whether through journaling, quiet reflection, prayer, or conversations with a trusted friend, these prompts will help you:

Recognise God’s presence in your daily life
Reflect on His guidance and what He’s speaking to you
Deepen your trust in Him and surrender what’s weighing you down
Engage with Scripture in a meaningful way
Grow spiritually and align your life with His purposes

Ways to Use It

Start with Gratitude, if you do nothing else, do this
Choose a prompt that speaks to you each morning or evening
Use it as a conversation starter with God during prayer
Reflect on one question per week for deeper meditation
Discuss prompts with a trusted friend or small group

Why This Resource?

This journal guide ties into all the points from my Drawing Near to God series, offering practical ways to engage with God daily. It’s designed to help activate your faith in both simple and profound ways—whether in gratitude, surrender, prayer, scripture reflection, or personal growth.

God meets us in the messy, imperfect moments, and this journal is a way to invite Him into your everyday life. You don’t have to do it perfectly—just start!
